This setup is called tethering or internet sharing. Tethering is when you turn your tablet into a Wi-Fi hotspot and share your 3G/4G data connection which is activated on the tablet. Once you’ve turned tethering on, any device with a wireless connection can connect to the internet via your tablet’s internet connection. The steps below will show you how to share it from your Slate S5.
Caution: For security’s sake, avoid leaving your hotspot on all the time. This may also drain your battery. Use this feature sparingly to get the most of it.
Note: If you have your hotspot on, you may not be able to connect to other, external Wi-Fi routers. Try to only use it when you don’t have access to another free network.
Step 1:
Click on the App drawer menu
Step 2:
Click on settings
Step 3:
Click on More under the Wireless & Networks menu, and then choose Tethering & Portable Hotspot.
Step 4:
Swipe right to turn on Wi-Fi hotspot
Step 5:
The Hotspot is on and available, now click on Wi-Fi hotspot to customize, such as give the hotspot a name and set up a password.
Tip:
Using a hotspot will typically burn through your allotted data much quicker than simply using your tablet to browse the internet. Be prepared to see your usage increase when using your hotspot.
